BACKGROUND

I have over 25 years experience as a video editor and camera operator. In that time I have worked on feature films, documentaries, music videos and commercials in a variety of different roles. I'm extensively experienced on both sides of the camera and I also work as a musician so I am very aware of the needs of artists who are under the lights and trying to get their voices heard.

 

My background is working in both FE and HE teaching practical filmmaking but my passion has always been for the practical side of the art. I left working in full time education in 2014 to become a full time freelance musician / filmmaker.

ETHOS

I believe in storytelling above all. It's important to keep up with developments in emerging technology but it can also become very easy to use it for the sake of it. I tend to find that it's important to remember to focus on the core ideas and spirit of each project. 

 

I like to work collaboratively with each client and to help them translate their ideas and vision on to the screen. My time in education has left me with a strong sense of colegiality and egalitarianism, in both my work ethos and equally with the kind of work that I want to produce.

SKILLS

My specialisms are centred on offline editing and soft mounted camera stabilisation. I've been editing using Adobe Premiere Pro for 25 years but I am also experienced with Media Composer, After Effects and Photoshop. I also record sound and am experienced with recording both on location and in the studio.
